Windows Terminal Server provides a well-established solution for providing your users access to remote desktops and applications from anywhere, anytime, and over any connection. Most likely new Terminal server features such as Remote Programs, Terminal Server Gateway and Terminal Server Web Access shipped with Windows Server code name "Longhorn" will even increase user acceptance.
Adding technical concepts such as application isolation, application streaming and virtual desktop infrastructure provided by SoftGrid and Virtual Server are also helping to improve Terminal Server technology. However, this may also lead to increased system complexity of centralized application infrastructures; there are just too many options.
This session looks at the different options from an IT architect's perspective, helping IT professionals to decide which technology is suited best for their individual IT environments.
